Who is Ludwika Paleta?

Ludwika was born in Krakow, Poland, on 29 November 1978 – her zodiac sign’s Sagittarius, and she holds both Polish and Mexican nationality. She’s an actress, film producer and singer, with more than 30 acting credits to her name, while she’s perhaps known best for her portrayal of the lead character Nora in the 2013 comedy movie “I Don’t Know Whether to Slit My Wrists or Leave Them Long”, written and directed by Manolo Caro, and which also starred Luis Ernesto Franco and Luis Gerardo Mendez. It follows two couples living in the same building, who’ve just become friends; the movie won two of the three awards for which it was nominated.

Early life and education

Ludwika spent the first year of her life in Krakow, where she was raised alongside her older sister Dominika Paleta by their Polish father Zbigniew Paleta, a famous violinist who’s composed music for various telenovelas; their mother Barbara Paciorek Paleta’s a painter. The family moved to Mexico in 1980, after Zbigniew was offered a job there.

Ludwika became interested in acting at a very early age, and was 10 when she made her debut TV series appearance, in an episode of the family drama “Carrusel”. She became famous three years later, when cast to play the lead character Alejandra in all 90 episodes of the 1992 family adventure series “El Abuelo y Yo”, which also starred Jorge Martinez de Hoyos and Marcelo Buquet. It follows the life of Alejandra, and her friendship with her grandfather and parents.

Ludwika continued acting throughout her entire education. She studied at a local high school, and upon matriculating in 1997 didn’t enroll at college, but continued working on her way up in the film industry.

Ludwika starred as Maria de los Angeles ‘Tita’ de la Vega in the 1995 romantic drama “Humble Maria”, which also starred Thalia, Fernando Colunga and Rebeca Manriquez, and follows a poor girl who’s fallen in love with a wealthy misogynist boy.

A couple of her following roles were in the 1998 romantic adventure drama “Hurricane”, the 2001 romantic drama “Amigas y Rivales”, and the 2003 mystery crime drama “Nina… Amada Mia”.

In 2004, Ludwika starred as Aida Santibanez Villalpando in the popular action crime adventure “Wooden Woman”, alongside Gabriel Soto and Jaime Camil; it follows the sweet and caring woman Marissa who’s lost her father in a forest fire, and has now begun running his ranch. The following year saw her portray the supporting character Alina Montellano in the romantic drama “Duel of Passions”, and in 2007 and 2008, Ludwika played Paulina Alvarez y Junco in the family fantasy drama “Palabra de Mujer”, which follows four different women who’ve gone on an adventure together.

In 2009 and 2010, Ludwika starred as Soledad ‘Sol’ Duarte de Perez in 171 episode of the comedy “Los Exitosos Perez”, alongside Veronica Castro and Jaime Camil; it tells the story of two news anchors who’ve married only to gain attention.

In 2012, Ludwika played Estefania de Castanon in the romantic drama “Abyss of Passion”, and her only other notable performance in the decade was her portrayal of Yolanda Acosta in the 2017 thriller drama “La Querida del Centauro”, created by Lina Uribe and Dario Vanegas, and which starred Humberto Zurita, Michel Brown and Wayne LeGette. Three of Ludwika’s most recent roles in TV series have been in two episodes of the 2018 historical drama “Rubirosa (Serie)”, the 2018 episode “Naco, We Have a Problem” of the action adventure comedy “Run Coyote Run”, and nine episodes of the 2021 comedy drama “Daughter from Another Mother”.

Ludwika made her debut film appearance in the 2003 short comedy “Como Dios Manda”, and the same year saw her appear in the crime thriller drama “Seis Disad en la Oscuridad” and the romantic comedy “Corazon de Melon”.

In 2007, she played Bella in the science fiction “Polvo de Angel”, as well as the lead character Miranda Samano in the popular thriller drama “Propiedad Ajena”, written and directed by Luis Velez, and which also starred Humberto Zurita and Rib Hillis. Three of Ludwika’s most recent film roles have been in the 2019 comedy drama “Modern Loves”, and the 2021 comedies “Guerra de Likes” and “Tequila Re-Pasado”; she’s currently shooting for the upcoming movie “A Circus Story & A Love Son”.

Ludwika sang the song “Capitanes de la Calle” in the 1992 series “El Abuelo y Yo”.

She produced both the 2013 comedy movie “I Don’t Know Whether to Slit My Wrists or Leave Them Long” and the 2016 movie “Parallel Roads”.

Ludwika’s won five of the nine awards for which she’s been nominated. She won two Premios TVyNovelas Awards for Best Child Performance in 1990 and 1992, for “Carrusel” and “El Abuelo y Yo”, respectively, and a Premios TVyNovelas Award for Best Young Lead Actress in 1996, for “Maria la del Barrio”. Ludwika also won a 2013 Premios Bravo Award for Girl Revelatio,n and a 2014 Diosas de Plata Award for Favorite Lead Actress, both for her performance in “I Don’t Know Whether to Slit My Wrists or Leave Them Long”.

Love life and husband

Ludwika’s quite open when it comes to sharing details of her love life with her fans, so it’s widely known that she’s married twice. She exchanged vows with her first husband Plutarco Haza on 18 April 1997, in a large ceremony attended by many of their friends and family members; Plutarco’s a Mexican actor, writer and director, with more than 60 acting credits to his name, while he’s perhaps known best for his portrayal of Dalvio Navarrete ‘El Ingeniero’ in the action crime series “El Senor de los Cielos”, which has been airing since 2013.

Ludwika gave birth to their son Nicolas on 11 November 1999, but she and Plutarco divorced in 2008.

She married her second husband Emiliano Salinas Occelli on 20 April 2013; he’s probably only known for being the son of former Mexican president Carlos Salinas de Gortari and his wife Cecilia Occelli.
