Early life, family, and education

Kyle Griffin was born under the zodiac sign of Cancer on 10 July 1986, in New York City USA; he holds American nationality, and comes from a family of Caucasian descent. Kyle was raised by his parents, Harry and Janice, alongside his sister Kelly. Their mother works as a preschool teacher, while their father is a retired marketing consultant. Kyle began his career as a production assistant at WNYT in 2006 and worked there while still in college until 2008. In March 2008, he began working as a production assistant at MSNBC, where he stayed until September of that same year, when he was hired as an associate producer for the National Broadcasting Company (NBC)’s “Early Today”, where his job was to research, write and copy for NBC News, and from 2009 through 2012, Kyle served as a producer for MSNBC’s “The Ed Show”, “PoliticsNation”, and “MSNBC Live”.

Kyle moved to Sydney, Australia in 2012, and there began working for Yahoo! as a TV associate producer, but for just a few months. In May 2013, Kyle started working as a senior producer for the Seven Network Limited, where he stayed until July 2015.

In August 2015, Kyle was hired as a segment producer for “The Last Word with Lawrence O’Donnell”, and four years later was promoted to senior producer. In 2017, Kyle and his fellow producers were nominated for the News & Documentary Emmy Award for Outstanding News Discussion & Analysis.

Kyle produced the special “Pride of the White House”, hosted by Jonathan Capehart, who spoke with the LGBTQ members of Joe Biden’s White House staff. The show won the 2022 Gay & Lesbian Alliance Against Defamation (GLAAD) Media Award for Outstanding TV Journalism- Long-Form.

In February 2022, Kyle began serving as an executive producer for “The Last Word with Lawrence O’Donnell” and is still in this position as of early 2023.

Love life and spouse

Kyle is very open about his love life and his sexual orientation, and uses every opportunity to say how much he loves his spouse, Joel Meares. The two married on 3 October 2015, in Townsville, Australia, having been in a long-term relationship before they tied the knot, having met at a party in Manhattan, New York City, thanks to a mutual friend.
