Born Mariam Sayed Sameer Marbella Al-Alawi on 25 December 1996, in Bahrain, she’s the third of four children of her Filipino mother, Fatima Marbella, and Moroccan father, Samier Al-Alawi. She’s the older sister of Mona Alawi, a young Moroccan-Filipino actress and model.
Her parents separated when she was seven years old, and she flew alone to Philippines all alone to live with her mother and siblings. Her mother had to work various jobs to support the family.
Ivana became interested in acting while in high school, and was encouraged to pursue her dreams by her younger sister Mona, who had already launched her career. Ivana made her acting debut in 2016, when chosen for the part of Princess in the TV series “Juan Happy Love Story”. The show was created by Denoy Navarro-Punio, with the main stars Heart Evangelista, Gloria Romero and Dennis Trillo, about a man who struggles to make a commitment to one woman and a girl, a hopeless married romantic. The same year, she appeared in two episodes of the TV series “Magpakailanman”, which starred Mel Tiangco, Elle Ramirez, and Lovely Rivero.
She returned to acting three years later, with the role of Monique in the romantic-drama film “Open”, starring JC Santos, Arci Munoz and Ina Raymundo.
The same year, she appeared in the action comedy film “3pl Trobol Huli Ka Balbon”, with Coco Martin, AiAi Delas Alas and Jennylyn Mercado in the lead roles.
