Who is Heather Dinich?

American journalist Heather Dinich was born in Indiana, USA, on 25 October 1974, making her zodiac sign Scorpio. She’s probably known best for the work that she’s done for the American international basic cable sports channel ESPN – originally Entertainment and Sports Programming Network.

Education and early life

Heather and her two siblings, whose names haven’t been disclosed, were raised in Indiana by their father Dave and mother Carol; not a lot about Heather’s family is known, as she respects their privacy, but it’s believed that her mother was a nurse, and her father a real estate agent.

Heather’s parents were huge fans of the Pittsburgh Pirates of Major League Baseball (MLB), and she thus grew up a fan, as well; she’s revealed that she still has autographs of former Pirates stars Bill Mazeroski and Andy Van Slyke.

Heather studied at Pottsville Area High School, and was mostly into playing sports during her four years there; she was on her school’s soccer team, and also ran track and played volleyball. She matriculated in 1997, and then enrolled at Indiana University, Bloomington from which she graduated in 2001 with a Bachelor’s degree in journalism.

Career as a journalist

Upon graduation, Heather began an internship at the magazine “The Washington Post”, and was mostly in charge of covering college basketball; she became somewhat popular after having covered American former basketball coach Robert Montgomery ‘Bobby’ Knight.

Following the report, Heather was invited to work as a reporter for the magazine “Centre Daily Times”, and she spent two years there, focused on covering Penn State Football; Heather quit mostly because she and American coach Joe Paterno were unable to get along.

She was then hired to work as a sports journalist for the newspaper “Baltimore Sun”, covering the University of Maryland’s football and basketball teams, a position she held for three years before then joining ESPN.

Heather was initially hired to work for the website ESPN.com as their Atlantic Coast Conference reporter, writing game stories and blogs, which she did for six years, then in 2013 began covering the College Football Play-offs. She’s since been given many other responsibilities, including contributing to ESPN radio program “College Game Day”, and their shows “Get Up” and “SportsCenter”; for seven consecutive years, Heather’s also worked as an analyst on ESPN show “Championship Drive: Who’s In”.

In 2021, she was the Football Writers Association of America’s president.

She’s passionate about travelling and has been to nearly all of the US states thanks to her career; Heather’s also vacationed in more than 10 European countries, and has visited several Asian and African countries too.
