As a college player at the University of Southern California, Leinart was very successful. He appeared 15 times on the board of leaders, the top 10 players from the entire NCAA. Leinart was considered one of the best prospects in the 2006 draft, and was selected as the tenth overall by the Cardinals. Among countless awards and highlights at college, Leinart won the Heisman Trophy, Walter Camp Award and was a finalist for the James E. Sullivan Award. He signed a six-year contract worth $51 million, becoming the last player chosen in the draft to sign a contract and that shortly after coach Dennis Green had lost patience. Needless to mention the fact that the contract increased the outright size of Matt Leinart net worth at once. More, he tentatively proved to be worth the money, as in 11 games as a starter, Leinart threw for 2,547 yards, suffered12 interceptions and secured 11 touchdowns, with a record of four wins and seven losses. In the 2007 season, Leinart broke his collarbone in the fourth game season and could no longer be used for the rest of the season.

At the beginning of the 2008 season Kurt Warner regained the starting position from Leinart and send him back to the bench. Warner led the Cardinals up even in the Super Bowl, although they were defeated by the Pittsburgh Steelers. In 2009, Leinart saw the pitch only from the bench because Warner again played excellently and the Cardinals once again reached the play-offs, where they failed in the second round to the subsequent Super Bowl champions the New Orleans Saints.

In 2010, he signed a contract with the Houston Texans and became the third quarterback behind Matt Schaub and Dan Orlovsky. In 2012, Leinart signed a contract with the Oakland Raiders and was planned as a replacement for his former college football team-mate Carson Palmer. However, Leinart’s contract was terminated after the season. In 2013 after injuries to the quarterbacks EJ Manuel and Kevin Kolb, Leinart signed a contract with the Buffalo Bills, but released after five days. Matt Leinart decided to retire after suffering three season-ending collarbone fractures in six years, and therefore being unable to establish his playing credentials with any consistency.

Finally, in he personal life of the retired football player, he was in a long term relationship with the women’s basketball player Brynn Cameron. The two have a son together, although they broke up before the baby was born. Currently, he is dating actress Josie Loren.
