Lang Lang, born on the 14th of June 1982, in Shenyang, Liaoning, China, is a Chinese pianist who became popular for making waves in the concert scene at such a young age.

Lang is the son of Lang Guoren who is also a musician. His love for music started at the early age of three after watching an episode of the cartoon “Tom and Jerry”, in which the Hungarian Rhapsody No. 2 by Franz Liszt was played. Lang was fascinated and began piano lessons with Professor Zhu Ya-Fen. At the age of five he was already entering competitions.
At the age of nine, Lang was studying at Beijing’s Central Conservatory of Music. His first teacher gave up on him, but another teacher gave him a chance, and his hope for a life in music came back.
