Judd Apatow was born in 1967, in New York, United States, where he studied at Syosset High School. As a teenager, Apatow expressed an interest in stand-up comedy, and was largely inspired by such comedians as Bill Cosby and Steve Martin. As a result of that, Apatow started his career as a stand-up comedian, and performed at various clubs during his high school years. When he graduated from high school, he continued his studies at the University of Southern California, where he took screenwriting classes. Around the same time, he started to be more involved in the comedy world, and frequently visited “The Improv” comedy club. However, Apatow failed to graduate from the university, and instead chose to live with his friend Adam Sandler. Soon Apatow met Garry Shandling, who offered him a position as a writer for the Grammy Awards. With Garry Shandling’s help Apatow then joined the writers on “The Larry Sanders Show”, and two years later in 1995, co-wrote a comedy film entitled “Heavyweights”.
