Judd Apatow is a well-known American film and television director, voice actor, screenwriter, as well as an actor. To the public, Judd Apatow is perhaps best known as a founder of a television production company called “Apatow Productions”, and his work on such series as “Girls” and “Freaks and Geeks”. The latter series, where Apatow served as the executive producer, proved to be a huge commercial success. Judd Apatow was born in 1967, in New York, United States, where he studied at Syosset High School. As a teenager, Apatow expressed an interest in stand-up comedy, and was largely inspired by such comedians as Bill Cosby and Steve Martin. As a result of that, Apatow started his career as a stand-up comedian, and performed at various clubs during his high school years. When he graduated from high school, he continued his studies at the University of Southern California, where he took screenwriting classes. Around the same time, he started to be more involved in the comedy world, and frequently visited “The Improv” comedy club. However, Apatow failed to graduate from the university, and instead chose to live with his friend Adam Sandler. Soon Apatow met Garry Shandling, who offered him a position as a writer for the Grammy Awards. With Garry Shandling’s help Apatow then joined the writers on “The Larry Sanders Show”, and two years later in 1995, co-wrote a comedy film entitled “Heavyweights”. In 1999, Apatow tried to launch his own series called “Sick in the Head”, and even wrote a pilot for it with Amy Poehler, Kevin Corrigan and David Krumholtz in the main roles. However, the show was not picked up to be put on air. That same year, he started working on “Freaks and Geeks”, which brought him a lot of commercial and critical success.

In regards to his personal life, Judd Apatow met his future wife Leslie Mann in 1996, when they both worked on “The Cable Guy” film, and the couple celebrated their wedding a year. Together, they have two children, namely Iris and Maude, both of whom have appeared in Apatow’s films.
