Jeff is of Chinese ancestry through both parents; he has four siblings, including a brother, with whom he later started a public address equipment business. After finishing high school, Jeff studied industrial design and graduated with a Bachelor of Arts degree. He wanted to become an architect, but after he started playing keyboards for the rockabilly band The Roadmasters, he became fully focused on music. He then joined the Cockroaches, after being invited to the band by Antony and Paul Field; before signing with a record label, The Cockroaches released a number of singles, such as “I Want a Leather Jacket” (1980), “Shake Jump and Shout” (1982), “My Whole World’s Falling Down” (1985), and “Another Night Alone” (1986). They then signed with Regular Records, and released their debut album in 1987 entitled “The Cockroaches”. The Wiggles were born even before the end of The Cockroaches; Anthony recruited Murray Cook, Greg Page, Phillip Wilcher and Jeff for this musical project. Their first, self-titled album came out in 1991, and sold over 70,000 copies, kick-starting their career as a band for children. Jeff stayed in the band until 2012, and oversaw the release of 35 studio albums, including “Yummy Yummy” (1994), which achieved double platinum status in Australia and gold in the US, then “Big Red Car” (1995), “Wake Up Jeff!” (1996), “Wiggly, Wiggly Christmas” (1996), “The Wiggles Movie Soundtrack” (1997), “Toot Toot!” (1998), “It’s a Wiggly Wiggly World” (2000), “Wiggle Time!” (2000), and “Wiggly Safari” (2002), all of which achieved at least platinum status, while some were certified double platinum in Australia, which increased Jeff’s wealth to a large degree.
