A famous film and television producer, how rich is Harvey Weinstein as of late 2017? According to sources, Harvey Weinstein’s net worth is estimated to be $200 million, most of which he has accumulated from his involvement in The Weinstein Company, during a career which began in the 1970s.

Harvey Weinstein was educated at John Bowne High School, then continued his studies at the University at Buffalo, and upon graduation established “Harvey & Corky Productions”; at the time, Harvey and his brother Bob worked on the production of rock concerts and shows. However, their passion for the film industry inspired them to launch their own film production studio, and with their earnings from “Harvey & Corky Productions”, the brothers founded “Miramax”, a company name combining their parents’ names. Initially, the company specialized in the release of music-related movies, for instance “Rockshow”, starring Paul McCartney and Linda McCartney. In 1982, the company gained a lot of public exposure after the release of “The Secret Policeman’s Other Ball”, on which they worked with the Amnesty International organization. Among many other successful films the company released at the time was “Scandal” with John Hurt, Ian McKellen and Bridget Fonda, Neil Jordan’s “The Crying Game” and Quentin Tarantino’s “Pulp Fiction” starring John Travolta, Samuel L Jackson and Uma Thurman. The company was purchased by “The Walt Disney Company” in 1993, but the brothers remained, and subsequently released such films as “Fahrenheit 9/11”, directed by Michael Moore, and “Kids” with Leo Fitzpatrick, Justin Pierce and Rosario Dawson, with Harvey consistently improving his net worth.

The brothers worked at the company until 2005, when they left to open their own film studio,  “The Weinstein Company”. The Weinstein brothers subsequently produced such films as “School for Scoundrels” with Billy Bob Thornton, “Rambo” starring Sylvester Stallone and Julie Benz, and, more recently, in 2014 “Sin City: A Dame to Kill For” with Mickey Rourke, Jessica Alba and Joseph Gordon-Levitt. They were joined by such well-known directors as Robert Rodriguez and Quentin Tarantino, and the company continued to capture public attention with films like “Scary Movie 4”, starring Anna Faris, Anthony Anderson and Carmen Electra, and Duncan Tucker’s “Transamerica” with Felicity Huffman and Kevin Zegers, all the time adding to Harvey Weinstein’s net worth.

As a director, Weinstein is known for “Playing for Keeps” and “The Gnomes’ Great Adventure” movies. For his contributions to the film industry, Harvey Weinstein was rewarded with Britannia, Saturn, British Independent Film, as well as Producers Guild of America Awards.

However, in late 2017, Harvey’s reputation came under close scrutiny, when he was publicly accused by several notable actresses of inappropriate conduct of a sexual nature – effectively a covert form of blackmail regarding their participation or not in various films which Harvey was to produce. He has apparently admitted culpability, to the extent where he has been fired by the board of his own company.

In regard to his now rather less-than-private personal life, Harvey Weinstein married to Eve Chilton in 1987, with whom he had three daughters before the couple divorced in 2004. Three years later Weinstein married Georgina Chapman, with whom he has two children, but as a consequence of the aforementioned ‘inappropriate behaviour’, Georgina announced their separation in October 2017.
