The youngest of three siblings, Darren grew up in the Henrico County, Virginia, where he attended the Hermitage High School, where he started to show his football skills, playing for the high school football team, but also showed his basketball skills, and the school honored him by placing him on the “Wall Of Fame”.
Darren then enrolled at the College of William and Mary, where he continued to play football, but changed position from quarterback to defensive back.
